I'm opening up this thread to allow for discussion on changing anything about the procedure and process I use for conducting SG Diplomacy. I'll put up one thing that came up last year:

Coastal designations will only be required in the orders when necessary to avoid ambiguity.

Please discuss any existing proposals and feel free to make your own. Of course, the faster we can wrap this up, the faster we can start the game.

Ive got nothing.  But I do agree with the coastal designation relaxations.

I can never remember the problems we have from year-to-year. I also agree with relaxing the coastal designation requirement but outside of that...well...I kinda waver back and forth when it comes to correcting mistakes.  On the one hand, part of the challenge of the game is understanding the rules but on the other hand a typo or incorrectly worded order shouldn't be held against a player.  The problem is identifying which is which.

At this point I do now try to always point out errors in players orders. When it becomes difficult is when it's already well past when orders are due and a back-and-forth to get proper orders would delay posting results even longer. This can happen because a player submitted late, or if I don't read the orders carefully until I'm ready to post.

The Fog of War......if Corvie has time to communicate with a player about a mistake and the mistake is changed, so be it.  But if no communication can happen, please note that the mistake is never the fault of Corvie and must be bourne by the order owner.

 

Thanks for the thread.  I have to think and read over the previous year's order's thread to see if I have anything to submit.

I'm going to leave this thread active through this coming Tuesday (March 26th) so that we can have a full week with our procedures nailed down before the first orders are due.
