I've been debating whether or not to start a topic for this. I'm not much for bragging, but hey, this might be the only time that i can actually say that i'm truely proud of myself So, the story goes like this...
My sister's son, Aidan, had his 1st birthday on Sept, 1st 2007. Three days later (Sept 4th, Tuesday), he was admitted to the Hospital for Acute Liver Failure... it came out of nowhere! They say that if he arrived to the hospital just an hour later, he would have been in a coma and probably would not have recovered. He was transfered to the Cleveland Clinic Childrens Hospital that very morning. His conditioned was stabilized temporarily, but his liver just quit and his kidneys were pulling double-time. Over the next day he continued to battle, but nothing was helping. As his kidneys were now starting to fail, his whole body started to swell, including around his brain. They were forced to put him into an induced coma to prevent brain damage. It was at this time, Weds. night, that the doctors could wait no longer... Aidan needed a liver, and he needed it now. Through sheer luck, kindness, and support from family, friends and God himself, I was able to step forward an help my nephew.
I can't begin to tell you how happy I am that he is still with us today, but my love for him is endless!!
Here is the story told be our Local News Channel 3.
Oh, and I must also give thanks to everyone that stood by me during the long recovery! Especially my girlfriend, Melisa!
