So being a complete and total dick, for no reason whatsoever, ruining something that's important to them, is fine? Harmless? Say Jamo bans not only your account from SG, but your IP (negating any attempt to recreate an account, at least from your normal PC), indefinitely, for no good reason other than we could laugh at you while you were "on vacation". I guess that's just fine with you? You'd be calm about it? Completely accepting that sometimes people are total fuckers, just because they can be, and even though you're now shafted, you gotta roll with the punches?
I have as sick and dry of a sense of humor as anyone, but that's just terrible, and you need to grow the fuck up if you need to be ruining other people's happiness just to create some for yourself. Don't you have a daughter? What if someone did that to her someday and she cried all night? "Don't worry honey... sometimes it's funny when people are assholes. You'll understand someday..."
Right.

Those are all grown people sitting in line late at night to buy a book aimed at children before everyone else... I haven't seen the book sold out anywhere. Do I understand what it's like to have the ending of something spoiled for me? Oh yeah, was I irritated? Yep. Did I go apeshit and try to attack the person? Hell no, I'm not a psychopath.
There are more important things to worry about, at least they didn't go kick someone in the nuts and steal their wallet, that's something to chase them down over.

Obviously there are going to be jagoffs in life no matter what your opinion on the subject, but would you really be so indifferent if it were something that really mattered to you, and you'd been looking forward to it? Or, like I said before, if it was your daughter? You'd really be that withdrawn, just telling her it was a life lesson and to get over it?
I'm not advocating chasing people down, or any sort of actual retribution. That wasn't my point. The point was that that it's not funny. Anyone that thinks it is, well, that's your opinion I guess.

However, I don't compare everything in life to that situation, and it doesn't make me wrong for being angry about being screwed over...even with something as trivial as the ending of a book. She is, and always will be, my top priority, and she does consume allot of my thoughts, but there are still going to be other things in life that are going to piss me off. If Halo 3 comes out 3 days late, I'm going to be pissed. I won't be able to sit back and say "well, that's ok. I have bigger problems", even though it's logical to do so. It's far from the worst thing you can do, but when did making kids cry by doing something spiteful become funny? Even if you think Harry Potter is the lamest thing ever and thing that adults that read the book are lame (I've read all of them BTW), deliberately making kids sad is never funny to me.

How you can say that the girl is off her rocker (which to me is an insulting phrase in itself, but that's another argument)? People are emotional about different things. Obviously this is something she (and many others) cared deeply about. She probably grew up with the series and found an emotional attachment to it. Many years of waiting were crushed in a short few minutes because of those dicks. And how can you judge someone for crying over something and defend yourself because you find something funny that others don't? It is OK for you to have an emotion and nobody else?
Personally, that video sums up what is wrong today - people have absolutely no respect for other people. They feel they can do anything they want as long as it entertains them. I found it not to be funny in the least and would love to be around when those jerks meet up with their Karma.

The over arching point in this thread has been that finding humor in the tragedy of others is not cool. You may not care if something is spoiled for you, and that's all well and good. But that doesn't make it right. Do other people find someone getting humor from others suffering a bad thing? Of course.
You asked why you are being judged, well it seems to me like that's pretty simple. You are judging others. And if you say you aren't then I really don't understand. No one has the right to tell other people how to feel or react. Just because you don't agree or understand their feelings does not mean you have a right to say the over-reacted or need to get over it. To me that is the biggest issue here.

I never thought that this will get so big, when i posted this video i wanted to show the comic side of what people do as well as the tragic side of how this effects others.
Not to take a side on this issue but in SirPwn4g3 defense he has the right to say and feel the way he does, now weather its right or wrong is not for debate, but we here should respect each others choices. I personally thought the video was funny also but i also thought that the guy was an asshole for what he did. I too been upset for things being spoiled, not being there on time, or even when i dont get my way, but i say to myself "fuck it, and make the best of this mikey. At least you will still have it and enjoy it to what you want it to be". Now the girl saying that she is going to cry "pathetic" the guy chasing down the car "pathetic", reason why i say this is because we live in a world of shit and if you put value into an object vs. human life then their is an issue there. For goodness sakes let it go and try to make the best out of the issue. If you know the ending to a book or movie before seeing or reading it and someone spoiled it for you, so what. Does that mean that your not going to read the book or watch the movie because someone told you how its going to end? i can understand that people can be upset that someone spoils something for you, but think of this, does it really matter? and if it does is it the first thing in your life that counts....more that life itself. I remember an SGer (who will remain nameless, out of respect for him/her and me) go on my case cause i said something about the H3 beta being late and that people were making an issue about it. I told him that if your going to make it your first thing in life and get upset because its late, then get over it at least you will still play it. He/She felt that it was his/her duty to defend others and make an mountain out of a molehil, just because of what i said. Do i care about others feelings here? yes, i am a caring person and treat everyone here (expect noob because he stole my skittles and traded it for a bucket of chicken with Blues) with respect and love. I always call everyone here either brother or sister because that is the type of love and respect that i want to show. And so far the reaction that i have recieved is wonderful and a nice change from the daily life of shit that i have to deal with here. One thing that i have notice that we are all here of different opinions and believes. We should all here in SG learn that we are all different and thats what makes this place great to be at. I personally like to see what people are truely feeling and how we are able to talk about this types of things, what i do not like to see is when people gang up on one person just because of what is said, please remember that Being SG is being and adult so lets have fun and respect others opinions. Thank you my brother, you should have the right to disagree with what anyone says, if anything in encourge it to be different. And also voice opinions makes up who we are and helps others understand what we like and dislike.

Do you react to my posts just to piss me off? It's like you're lurking and when you know you can get a rise out of me, you respond to one of my posts.
Let me elaborate - as someone who is studying to go into the Psychology field, ANY negative reference to someone having a mental illness is offensive.
Off their rocker, dumb, screw loose, etc.
If you've ever had a chance to work with the mentally ill (yourself not included B) ), you would be a bit more sympathetic before you threw a phrase out like that willy-nilly.

Are you truly licensed to offer those services yet? I believe you have several exams still to take. The SPAM thread's E&O insurance will not protect you if you proceed with this course of action...

Haha, yeah, my life is SO drab that I have to lurk waiting for YOU to post. No dude, I was in here posting away when I came across this gem from you. I'm trying to gain a better understanding of our sensitive types here. Thanks for the clarification.

I find it rather ironic that while you put down JAMO for laughing at a phrase used to refer to the mentally dumb/ill and then you make fun of him calling him mentally dumb/ill.

Now back to being sensitive again...
I stick to my original post in saying the sorry jokers in the video really need to get a life. It's pretty sad when your hobby is crashing other peoples hobby.

You are correct and I apologize for my faux pas.
Jamo, unlike others here I did put a smiley into my little insult. Considering some of the things you have called me in the past, you shouldn't be throwing stones.
As far as what bothers us "sensitive types" here - the biggest problem is the double standard. You have not only advocated, but also promoted slandering certain races here. As "leader" of these boards, you should be setting a better example.

Everyone has bad and serious things in their life, regardless of age, and any healthy type of escapism is good for the soul. Telling someone that this "shouldn't be that important" is a little insulting. For some, stuff like this brings joy to their hearts and helps them cope with the "realities" in the world. It's the little things in ones life that make the difference. Obviously, those "things" are based off personal preference; it might be cigars, golf, cars, video games, sunsets, Star Wars, animals, movies, music, etc. The "thing" isn't important. The fact that you know that "thing" is important to someone and find humor when it is ruined for them I think is what offended so many in this thread. This is overkill, but what these guys did in the video to me is similar (but not as serious) to killing someone's beloved pet and laughing about it. You might not understand that this book is that important to some, you may even think it is stupid. However, IMO, the fact that you know that it "is" that important to them and think it's funny that it got ruined is what drew such a heated response. It is pretty obvious that this book, to the people in the video, is very dear to them. To those who think that my post is over the top, you are very free to feel that way and I hold no grudges or ill will to you.
As far as racial, national, or the other topics that came up in the thread. Wow. I will just leave that all alone. I just came here to comment on the thread topic "funny as hell (I don't agree) but wrong if you are a HP fan (do agree)"

Pay no attention to Bastille's comment about racial slandering, for he knows not what he speaks. He's trying to make me out to be a big bad evil Admin, and everyone else here knows his personality and we all just laugh it off and feel sorry for him. I'm NOT an advocate of racial slander, nor have I promoted it here on the boards. Please don't take one persons jaded opinions and hold them as your own. If you have any questions or concerns with me, feel free to PM me, I'm always available. As for this topic, it started as a joke, it took a bad turn early, and kept going down the tubes. It's great to see those that are actually offended by this are NOT the ones taking major issue here, but it's sad to see others arguing about bullshit and using this thread as their vehicle for it (myself included). For my actions and others, I appologize. This thread is now closed.
