CFL Power Rankings #5

DC struggles again with Jersey, Rocky Mountain falters, and Dayton has a shot at the Wild Card.  There's one week to go, three teams have playoff spots, and three more fight for the final spot.


1 - Steel City Screaming Eagles, 17-2-1 (Last Rank #1)
Steel City fought some stiff competition despite what their record shows.  Despite the 4-0 sweep, they easily could have lost three games to the Windy City.  Next up, they host Indiana SAMS (15-4-1) where the division is on the line.


2 - Indiana SAMS, 15-4-1 (Last Rank #3)
Indiana climbs back to the #2 spot and aim to be at #1 after that.  While you can argue they shouldn’t climb a spot for beating a cellar dweller, their record and net points are better than the old #2.  Next up, they travel to Steel City (17-2-1) where a sweep wins them the division.  Regardless of what happens, they’ll then face Steel City the following week.


3 - DC Detonators, 15-5 (Last Rank #2)
Conspiracy indeed!  DC has clinched the division, so rather than practicing for Dayton, they’ll be spending all their time trying to figure out how to beat Jersey.  Next up, the face the surging Dayton Cobras (7-12-1).


4A - Jersey Red Dragons, 9-10-1 (Last Rank #6)
Up two spots, Jersey has breathed some life into their season.  Their destiny is in their own hands as they try to live up to their pre-season potential.  Next up, they travel to Rocky Mountain (8-12) to fiught their way into the playoffs.


4B - Dayton Cobras, 7-12-1 (Last Rank #5)
Dayton jumps ahead of Rocky Mountain, but Jersey’s dismantling of DC was impressive enough to just edge them out of #4 alone.  No one wants to face Dayton right now.  Next up, they'll host DC (15-4) with a slim chance to take the Wild Card.


6 - Rocky Mountain Rolling Thunder, 8-12 (Last Rank #4)
Rocky Mountain low... What happened to the Rolling Thunder?  They’ve lost 7 of their last 8 and are free falling fast.  Next up, they face Jersey (9-10-1) to fight for the Wild Card-- yet both teams could lose out..


7 - Windy City Hustlers, 4-15-1 (Last Rank #7)
WC fought a tough battle last week, but couldn’t come up with any wins.  With the way they played and the way Rocky Mountain is falling, they could jump to #6 next week if things break right.  Next up, they host the Ventura (2-17-1).


8 - Ventura Warlords, 2-13-1 (Last Rank #8)
Ventura had a chance to win a couple games last week again a rough opponent in Indiana.  The Warlords are looking to climb out of the basement and carry a little momentum into the next season.  Next up, they close out a long, intoxicated season by travelling to the Windy City (4-15-1) for a preview of the Spring Fling.
