Meet the N00b: Smittenmuffin 2

This is the first of hopefully many "Meet the N00b" features we'd like to start doing for the home page. Hopefully other SG authors will take participate in this as well so that we can get to know our new members just a little bit better.

Smittenmuffin, aka MystryMinor, is one of MystryMaster's four younger brothers. After Mystry badgered him over and over since last summer, Smitten finally joined SG to, in his words, validate owning a headset. Wait until he finds out he'll have to turn the volume down really low when playing with Mystry. Of course anyone who read his post in the Welcome thread already knows this.

So what can I tell you about him that you don't already know? Well, Smitten is an 18 year-old New Jersey resident currently studying accounting at Rider University. He currently lives at home with his parents and three of four older brothers and works part-time as a cashier at a local grocery store.

Smitten has been playing games as far back as he can remember, which would be on the Super Nintendo game console. "It seems as if I've just always been gaming. I've been playing anything around me since I was a little baby muffin." As for the types of games, he enjoys first person shooters and had been playing the likes of Rainbow Six and The Orange Box until this past Christmas when he received Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3.

After playing online for awhile, it started to get boring due to what we all know as rentals. "Not many people are team players, and many are insufferable," he told me. It was then that the words of his brother popped into his head, "Join SG, fill your friends list in no time," which is what brought him here this week. He got to play with some SGer's this past week and while he wasn't there very long, he had a pretty good time and he's looking forward to more time with SGer's.

Smitten is not just all about the first-person shooter. He's also interested in sports games, horror games, and the occasionally puzzle games. "I love RPGs and fantasy games. Final Fantasy VII is still my favorite game ever, and I've beaten most games in the series at least once." He got an early release of Final Fantasy XIII and beat it in a week and a half while going to school. "That was probably the most I've ever been obsessed with a game." That obsession might be surpassed come January 31st when Final Fantasy XIII-2 is released and "it will be the only thing I play between school and work."

Despite his love for Final Fantasy, he says he's more of a casual gamer who only plays when he has nothing else to do. This being my first interview, I neglected to ask him what else he does beside game. A typical gaming day for Smitten will be to wake up, play until early afternoon, school, work until around ten or eleven, and then more gaming until about 2 AM at which point his brother goes to sleep and he stops playing since the Xbox is setup in his brothers room. His gaming fuel? Water and peanut-butter filled pretzels-- a snack love that I share with him.

Lastly, I asked a question out of left field. If you could only have one super power, what would it be? "That's tough. I can't say strength or flight, because that's just unoriginal. I'd probably wanted something like super speed or intensely quick reflexes. It would just be fun."
